SMART Goals & Action Plans
Day 1: Participate in Goal Setting Mini Lesson and take notes. Practice writing SMART goals on sheet. Then complete the graphic organizer to brainstorm specific steps to meet your long term goals.
Students have had trouble brainstorming necessary steps that must be done starting today to achieve your goal. Here are some suggestions- be as specific as you can!
- Have you completed your college application? If so, what other admissions requirements do you still need to finish? Housing, scholarships, prerequisite classes, special tests, internships, and GPA requirements are all considerations for reaching your goals.
- Financial Considerations: It costs money to live while you are working to achieve your long-term goals. How will you get this money? Part-time work? Scholarships? Include how you plan to support yourself.
- College & Career goals often involve sacrifice. What sacrifices will you make in order to make your long-term goals happen?
- Do you have personal goals you would like to achieve while in college? Graduate with honors? Many programs require a certain GPA to graduate.
- Time- What is your time frame for completing each piece of your goal?
- Once you complete training to achieve your goals, you will have to find a job. What will you do to ensure success in your job search?
- What kind of job do you want to apply for?
Day 2: Once your Goal Setting Graphic Organizer has been completed, you may transfer the information to the Goal Form.
