Participate in discussion on tips to fill out job applications. Then fill out your sample application to the best of your ability as a .pdf document. Universally, job applications appear much more professional and are easier to edit if you are able to fill them in electronically. It also shows that you are willing to make an extra effort as the employee.

Filling out a Job Application: FAQs
- Which information should I leave off my mock job application?
- The short answer is nothing that can't be found on the Internet.

- What is my Business Phone?
- You are in high school, so employers do not expect someone your age to have a business phone. Write in "N/A"
- What do I put for "What was your previous address?"
- If you can't remember your previous address, only worry about it if you have moved in the last five years. Otherwise, you can put N/A.
- Which job am I applying for?
- Generally, you can either fill out the application for a job you'd like to get this summer or for a job you currently have.

- How should I answer "How did you learn of our organization?"
- If there isn't a natural answer to that, you can put down, "My high school counselor told me about it."
- Why does the application ask, "May we inquire of your present employer?"
- Some employers would be unhappy to find out that you are looking for a new job, and some would not mind. The potential employer is asking if they'll upset your employer if they call for a reference.
- Do speeding/parking tickets count as being convicted of a crime?
- No. Those are misdemeanors, and the application says to exclude misdemeanors.
- Some employers do want you to include tickets, but they will specify that they want all police citations.
- What does "Do you have any violations?" mean under Driver's License?
- It's asking if you've had your driver's license taken away.
- What is the course of study for high school?
- High School Graduation Requirements
- Can I check the box that I graduated?
- No, because you haven't yet. Instead, put "Diploma May 2020" under Diploma or Degree, and report 3.5 years completed.
- What should I put under "Business" in the reference section?
- You should identify the business the reference is associated with. Teachers are associated with Northwood-Kensett Community Schools, etc.
